ArtistSpeak! is a public speakers forum featuring a panel of representatives from the arts community discussing the most vital issues impacting the arts community in Oakland. Oakland is experiencing an incredible revitalization fueled by the arts and it is critical for the arts community to be informed voters and engaged civic participants.  Moderated by long-time journalist Brenda Payton Jones and hosted by the Oakland Museum of California, the ArtistSpeak! audience will hear a wide range of perspectives from respected artists and community activists on the following topics:

• The arts as a vehicle for economic development
• The arts as a tool for community development
• Artists and the political process
• The candidates in Oakland’s upcoming mayoral election
